Kestrel Logistics Opens a Fully Electric Distribution Hub Serving 4,800 Retail Points
Kestrel Logistics began operations at a 46,000 m² distribution centre outside Rotterdam running on an all-electric fleet of 140 vehicles and on-site solar generation.
HAMBURG, Germany - September 4, 2026 - Kestrel Logistics has started operations at a 46,000 m² distribution hub near Rotterdam, serving 4,800 retail points across the Benelux region with an all-electric vehicle fleet.
The site runs 140 electric trucks and vans supported by 62 charging bays and a 4.1 MWp rooftop solar array that covers an estimated 38% of annual site consumption.
Operational impact
Kestrel expects the hub to remove approximately 5,900 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent per year compared with the diesel fleet it replaces, based on the company's own measured fuel data from 2025.
"Electrifying the vehicles was the easy half. Rebuilding the charging schedule around delivery windows took us two years," said Sofie Brandt, Operations Director at Kestrel Logistics.
