Meridian Health Publishes Peer-Reviewed Results for Its At-Home Cardiac Monitoring Patch
A 2,100-patient study published in the European Heart Journal reports that Meridian's wearable patch detected atrial fibrillation episodes with 94.1% sensitivity compared with clinical Holter monitoring.
LONDON, United Kingdom - September 11, 2026 - Meridian Health today announced the publication of peer-reviewed results for MeridianPatch, its at-home cardiac monitoring device, in the European Heart Journal.
The prospective study followed 2,100 patients for 14 days each and compared the patch against standard clinical Holter monitoring. MeridianPatch detected atrial fibrillation episodes with 94.1% sensitivity and 97.6% specificity.
Study design
Participants were recruited across 18 NHS trusts between March 2025 and February 2026. All recordings were adjudicated by two independent cardiologists blinded to the device output.
"What matters clinically is not only detection, but detection outside the hospital, where most episodes actually happen," said Dr. Alan Brooke, Chief Medical Officer at Meridian Health.
Next steps
Meridian Health has submitted the dataset as part of its CE marking application under the EU Medical Device Regulation. The company expects a decision during 2027 and is not marketing the device for diagnostic use until that process concludes.
